I like when go to some Aisan places with my American friends here, and they go WOW when they hear or see things they have never known before.. espeically, it's really make they feel themselves are the minority at the place only most aisan people being around. Usually this is how I feel at school since there are only both my sis and me are from Cambodia.

Anyway, that's all for the post of today.. I need to study for my two midterms on Wed & Fri.

Good luck to those of you who have the exam too, and of course good luck to myself.!!

Below are some trips of how to do well on multiple choice exams. Personally, I find it's very helpful, and hope this can be helpful to some of you as well. But one more thing can be very helpful is to learn more about the person who give the exam if possible and what type of exam it is. For example, like my accounting prof. who I never expect easy question from her; therefore, whenever I find there is a queston seem to be very straight forward, I would at least go over it twice before I circle the answer.

How to do well on multiple choice exams:

1) Read the questions carefully. Spend enough time with it. (Most test-takers spend too little time on the question.) Note all the key terms. If you can, circle these terms.

2) Depending on the format of the question you may be able to cover the choices and decide on an answer before you look at the choices. This helps you avoid being distracted by incorrect choices.

3) When possible, connect the question to each option by treating each as true-false question.

4) Don't jump at options without careful consideration. Jotting down a rationale for why you believe incorrect options to be wrong is helpful. Likewise know your rationale for choosing one option as the correct one.

5) Assume that the test-maker has given you the information you need to make a correct choice. Reason out the question. What clues are given to your to select the correct option?

6) Take questions at face value. Deal with what is given to your in the question, not with your personal experiences with the topic.

7) Be alert to similarities in the options. Know what the differences are between these similar choices.

8) Be aware of negatives such as "except" and qualifiers such as "all" "none" "some" "often" "best" etc. These words can make a critical difference in meaning.

9) To budget your time better, begin with questions you feel most comfortable with. You'll finish these faster and relax so you can think more clearly on the rest of the test.

10) Know your own test-taking tendencies. If you tend to consistently change correct answers to incorrect one, then avoid changing answers unless you have a strong rationale for doing so. If, however, you tend to misread questions and make snap, incorrect choices, then changing answers after you've given the question more consideration makes sense.

Last night I spent more than two hours just to shop for lotion online. I love shopping online because it's more convenient; at least it's better than going to the store and spend at least 3 hours to find everything I need, that is very tired. Shop online has its good and bad side,.. First, we don't get to feel and touch the products, so it would be good to only shop for things we have already been using,, another thing we should be careful is how to protect our bank card or credit card, Do NOT shop at the unreliable website or the money in your credit account could be easily stolen. Although I shop online a lot, but mostly is coz those stores are not near by.

With the two hours shop for lotion last night, I also found this lovely hand wash shampoo bottle...

Few days ago, I've heard a lot about the iPhone and also see a lot of online news about it. To some of you, probably you guys already knew what that is..., iPhone is a cell phone device that has no button, but it's also an iPod, and there are lot more functions that allow user to have access to the web easily. It costs $500 and will available by June.

iPhone @ apple.com

Anyway.. I think that should be all about the iPhone, and I agree with Lyna that it is quite ok, but not a super nice one, coz iPhone seems unable to use with the sim card and it won't be on the market until the summer time. I don't know much about it, the iPhone comes to my attention is coz I just started working on a project for my Finace class, which is about tracking the price of some stocks, and Apple is one of my choice.

First, let's me make it clear for some of you... If Philosophy is one of the subjects that you hate.., you should stop reading after this paragraph; below is going to be something relate to philosophy, and becoz I hate it too, so I understand how you feel toward this. I force to take this class is becoz it's one of the requirement class in my school.

Actually, the title of my philosophy class is Philosophy of Human Person.
This is a second course of philosophy in my school; base on my understanding from the first day of class is that the professor tried to discuss about the difference between "a human being" and "a person", and this will extend into the three main branches of philosophy: metaphysics (the study of being qua being. i.e. What are we? ), epistemology (the study of knowledge. i.e. What can we know?, and axiology (the study of value. i.e. What should we do?.........You can look it up in the online dictionary for more detail.

Basically, this class is going to define questions like>>>>>>> What is a person? What, in other words, makes for a "who"? Why might it be important to know? how might we go about fining out? Or What is a human being? For the difference between a human and a person.. my professor pointed out that "a person can't vote and only human can vote because only humans have status in the society." I got no reason to say he is wrong since he has his Ph.D in philosophy, but I don't agree with this either.

I don't believe philosophers are very smart people., most of them are people who good at study and love the studies.. According to one philosophy article I used to read, they said "Philosophy can turn people to be smart, becoz if we want to be the smart people, we have to persuade other that we are right." Although this a true concept, but this is some sort of cheating.!! Something wrong is wrong.. Even you can make people believe what you are saying is right, but one day they will find it out anyway.

Overall, I would suggest take the advantage of philosophy class to help you improve your argument skill, and not to change the wrong thing to be the right!!

Write down a list of what you want to achieve is the same as having resolutions, they belong to what you try to make yourself do. Of course, almost all the time they are things you don't usually like to do, but you actually can do it and they will benefit you in some way. I believe that everyone should try to make a list of what you want to achieve and set a reasonable time frame for it.

Why trying to make yourself doing something you don't like can be important? Because you are not alone in this world.. so you got to adjust yourself to get along with other around you. Especially, you can not be really happy while people around you are not happy. If you realize that is your mistake, you should correct yourself. Having resolution is just the way you try to force yourself to correct your mistake, or remind yourself of not doing the wrong thing again. Naturally, most of us would not do what we don't like to do except by force.. For example, we all know that most of the students are not willing to spend their vacation reading the text book to prepare for their next class, but their will read it when the instructor assign because they know they can't do well if they don't follow the instruction.

On the other hand, you should expect not all the time you will achieve your goals. Because no one is perfect in this world; that also means even you not achieve it, you should not feel disappointed. You can try again and again, there will be time you can achieve it as long as you don't give up.. Nothing is impossible and your best is good enough!!

Although some people think this is something useless and I won't say they are wrong; everyone has their own reason to choose what they want to do. Many questions in this world also don't have an exact right answer, as long as you have a reason to support your answer, it can be right!! And it's not true that the last post was my only post in this month, today my class is cancelled due to the professor has to go to a conference. However, I probably have more time for my blog from now on because this quarter I don't overload any courses. The three courses I'm taking are Managerial Accounting, Business Finance, and Philosophy of Human life.

1/1/07

I told myself that no matter how lazy I am, I must to post s.th on this first year of the year 1/1/2007.. and yeah.,, Happy New Year!!.. I wish this will be a great year for all of you..as well as to myself !!

Before I never pay much attention to any other new year beside the Chinese New Year, it's just the way in Phnom Penh city,.. or especially in my family, but now in the U.S., since everyone here goes by this New Year... Jan 1st, so I got to follow. Tonight many people in the U.S gather in the city center of different states for the count down activity., although I didn't go due to the weather is too cold for me, but I already counted down three times with all my different friends on the phone... the first one was at 12am time in Cambodia, second was at 9pm here, while there was one of my friend called from New York at 12am there, and the last one was at 12am here in Seattle.

2007 begin, everything is new again.!! for this year, i will try to improve some of my bad habits. Probably learn to accept my own mistake and being less confident in myself will be the first goal.. the reason is becoz many of my friends complain about this..and I figure out that I should listen to people's ideas more than I used to be.

Anyway, I got s.th I want to share with you guys about some of the differences between Cambodia and the U.S..
1. People in Cambodia prefer duck egg and people in the U.S. prefer chicken egg.
2. When people saying s.th good about you; people in Cambodia would politely reject the statement, while people in the U.S. will say thank you, and proud to accept that.
3. For dinner, people in Cambodia go by the family style (sharing all the food); most of the people in the US will only get to eat their own food.
4. People in Cambodia have rice with meal, American people barely eat rice.
5. All schools in Cambodia require student wear uniform; most of the school in the U.S. don't require that.
6. when you meet your friend's parent, in Cambodia we call them aunt or uncle; in the U.S. we call them by their first name.
7. Giving a huge might not be common in Cambodia, but it's very common in the U.S.
8. People in Cambodia drink boiled water; people in the US drink water come directly from the sink.

That's all I can think of for now.., and I think this might be the only post for me in this month, but still I will try to update as often as I can. Again, wish you guys a Happy New Year!!
