Very often that I hear from some of people I know about the reason they tend not to use credit to purchase stuffs online is coz they afraid of their credit amount being stolen.
In fact, there are some ways to avoid since most hackers doing this by e-mail people that they need to update or validate their billing info to keep their account active, and direct them to a look exactly alike website instead. Unknowingly, people submit their financial info to the hacker's website, so the hackers get chances to use these credit card accounts to order goods and services elsewhere.
Below I got some suggestions from an article I read of how to protect your credit cards when using them online:
1) If you get an e-mail that warns you with little notice that an account of yours will be shut down unless you reconfirm your billing info. Never reply or click on the link in the email. Just contact the company cited in the email by phone instead.
2) Avoid e-mailing personal and financial info. Before submitting financial info through a website, look for the “lock” icon on the browser’s status bar. It signals that your information is secure during transmission.
3) Review your bank statement as soon as you get them. If the statement sends to you late more than by a coupon days, call the company to confirm your balances.
After reading this post, I hope some of you feel safer when using your credit card online next time.
